چکیده

The network delay has a huge impact to the quality of a networked control system. This paper investigates modelling the network delay incurred by control system packets traversing a Mobile Ad Hoc Network from a plant to a controller using the queuing theory. Control systems can become unstable if information is lost or delayed so in this paper we compare voice traffic modelling with control packet data characteristics and show that with correct scheduling then delay can be minimised and kept stable until the network becomes congested KeywordsNetworked Control System; Queuing Theory; WNCS; OPNET;

Design of a Low-Latency Router Based on Virtual Output Queuing and Bypass Channels for Wireless Network-on-Chip

Wireless network-on-chip (WiNoC) is considered as a novel approach for designing future multi-core systems. In WiNoCs, wireless routers (WRs) utilize high-bandwidth wireless links to reduce the transmission delay between the long distance nodes. When the network traffic loads increase, a large number of packets will be sent into the wired and wireless links and can...

MODELLING AND ANALYSIS OF A DISCRETE-TIME PRIORITY QUEUING COMPUTER NETWORK WITH PRIORITY JUMPS USING PROBABILITY GENERATING FUNCTIONS

Priority queues have a great importance in the study of computer communication networks in which different types of traffic require different quality of service standards. The discrete-time non-preemptive priority queuing model with priority jumps is proposed in this paper. On the basis of probability generating functions mean system contents and mean queuing delay characteristics are obtained....

Analysis of Queuing Behaviors with Self-similar Traffic in Wireless Channels

Many measurement studies showed that network traffic usually exhibits self-similar nature, meanwhile, wireless fading channels lead to the time-variant service rates of network nodes. Compared with classical queuing systems with Markov sources or constant service rates, the queuing system with self-similar input in a wireless fading channel is more complicated, and it is very difficult to obtai...

Towards the formation of comprehensive SLAs between heterogeneous wireless DiffServ domains

Traffic patterns generated by multimedia services are different from traditional Poisson traffic. It has been shown in numerous studies that multimedia network traffic exhibits self-similarity and burstiness over a large range of time-scales. The area of wireless IP traffic modeling for the purpose of providing assured QoS to the end-user is still immature and the majority of existing work is b...

Queuing Theory Based Co-Channel Interference Analysis Approach for High-Density Wireless Local Area Networks

Increased co-channel interference (CCI) in wireless local area networks (WLANs) is bringing serious resource constraints to today's high-density wireless environments. CCI in IEEE 802.11-based networks is inevitable due to the nature of the carrier sensing mechanism however can be reduced by resource optimization approaches. That means the CCI analysis is basic, but also crucial for an efficien...
